Wiibiplay Announces New Updates to Enhance User Experience
Improved Account Control and Safety
Wiibiplay’s block system has been fixed and now works as intended, giving users much better control over their interactions. Users can reliably block unwanted accounts, knowing the feature functions properly to protect their experience. This enhancement strengthens our community by helping maintain a respectful environment.
At the same time, we are increasing account security and authenticity. From now on, all new accounts must verify their email address to be fully “enabled.” This means each registered user will receive a verification link by email, and only after confirming it will their account become active. Verified accounts are then marked with a verification badge on their profile, signaling to others that the account is authentic. Email verification is a well-established best practice for user safety and trust. In fact, “email verification is a process that helps verify if there is an actual user on the receiving end of the email address”, which helps guard against fake or spam accounts. By requiring email confirmation and marking verified members, Wiibiplay reinforces trust and quality in the community.
New Content and Subscription Features
Wiibiplay has also introduced features to enhance content discovery and engagement. A highly requested addition is playlist subscriptions. Now, whenever a user finds a playlist of interest on Wiibiplay, they can subscribe to it and receive updates when new videos are added. This works much like subscribing to channels, but at the playlist level. In fact, this subscription-to-playlists feature is modeled on other video platforms; for example, PeerTube’s documentation notes that users can “create, share, and subscribe to playlists”. By enabling playlist subscriptions, Wiibiplay makes it easy for viewers to follow curated video collections and discover related content continuously.
Points System Updates
We have updated the Wiibiplay Points system to make the value of points clearer. Effective immediately, the new exchange rate is set to 1,000,000 Points = 1 USD. This change ensures a more transparent, fixed equivalence between points and real currency. For context, many reward programs define a fixed ratio (for example, one loyalty site uses “100 points = $1 USD”). Our new rate simply establishes that Wiibiplay Points are worth a fixed (though large) number per dollar, which can help users calculate the monetary value of points more easily.
In the same spirit of fairness, daily point limits have been reduced for both Free and Pro members. We adjusted these limits to balance usage and reduce the potential for abuse. Capping daily points is a common practice in loyalty and rewards programs to manage budgets and prevent fraud. By lowering the daily maximum, Wiibiplay helps ensure that point earnings stay within reasonable bounds. Members can still earn and redeem points, but the new caps encourage steady engagement over time rather than allowing excessive accumulation in a single day.
Other Changes and Maintenance
To streamline the platform, the Import Videos feature has been removed. While this tool was useful for bulk uploading, it will no longer be available as we focus on refining the core upload experience and other enhancements. We appreciate that some users relied on importing, but removing it will help simplify maintenance and encourage direct uploads.
We have also changed viewing requirements for content. Effective now, users must log in to watch videos. This login requirement helps us provide a personalized experience (like keeping track of playlists and history) and enforces age and content controls consistently. By requiring authentication before viewing, Wiibiplay can better protect privacy, enforce content policies, and ensure viewers are part of the Wiibiplay community.
Finally, the Live Streaming feature has been temporarily disabled. This pause is so we can make behind-the-scenes improvements for stability and security. We plan to bring back live streaming soon, but with upgraded infrastructure for higher stream quality and safety. In the meantime, we are focusing on making the rest of the platform as strong as possible.
